At the centre of Callia Retreat lies a long, cool pool edged with white pebbles and shaded timber cabanas, their daybeds set just above the water. Sunbeds and umbrellas line the terrace, and a pool bar sends out Greek and Mediterranean small plates through the afternoon, so a whole day can pass between a swim, a book and a slow lunch in the sun.
The suites
Inside, the suites read like private apartments: a low linen bed, a soft sofa, a walk-in wardrobe and clean island daylight throughout. Bathrooms are shaped from pale tadelakt with twin basins, and glass doors slide back to a terrace where the town gives way to open sea. The Executive Suites go further, with a private outdoor hot tub set on the veranda for long, unhurried evenings.

Breakfast was great and the en suite hot tub was very nice. The reception was extremely helpful in getting us a rental ATV/Buggy which was much appreciated.
