Rob Freet's paintings
The oils and acrylics of the Blue Ridge hanging through the halls and stairwell are the work of Asheville painter Rob Freet, and each one is for sale. If a landscape catches you on the way up to your room, it can go home with you.
Breakfast on the veranda
Continental breakfast runs from 8:30 each morning: baked goods, yogurt and granola, fresh fruit, oatmeal, laid out for you to take to the sun porch, your room, or the veranda. A handful of Asheville's breakfast spots are within walking distance too, for the morning you want to sit somewhere with a menu.
The concert of birds
Bela Bartok lived at the Inn during its rooming-house years and composed his Third Piano Concerto here in 1943, said to have taken the tune from the 'concert of birds' singing in the garden below the veranda. Sit in the same spot some evening and listen for yourself.
Two miles to Biltmore Estate
Downtown Asheville and Biltmore Village are a two-mile drive from the front door, close enough for dinner and the shops, and the Biltmore Estate sits at the end of that same road. Grove Park stays quiet when you're back, gardens and veranda both empty again by dark.
